I was just sitting and relaxing in my backyard when I suddenly saw a few ants marching towards my hand, which was resting on the handrail. Out of curiosity and the human tendency to disturb others without a valid reason, I blocked their path and smiled like a winner.
Interestingly, they paused for a few seconds and moved back, one by one. At last, one who didn’t turn back, carrying food in his mouth, looked back at me…
After a few seconds, the others started looking for a new path, but the hero was simply standing there, staring at me.
Then I said, “What?”
He said nothing…
Then What?- I asked again.
You think you win over us by stopping our route? – he asked.
I said, “No, winning and all isn’t about this… I simply stopped you out of curiosity.”
He asked again, “Is your curiosity over now? Then shall I go my way?”
I said, “Fine. By the way, where are you going?”
“Actually, it is none of your business…” he replied… then continued…
“By stopping someone’s path towards their home, cutting off their food, and killing them mercilessly… then asking, as if nothing happened, where they are heading…
You did all this just to pass the time and out of curiosity. It is over for you. And for us, it’s our life. You guys play with it…”
I said, “I am sorry… I didn’t mean it. I never thought of the other side.”
By then, he had cooled down a little and said…
“For you guys, after hurting someone, saying sorry is a habit, and you think everything will be back to normal with one sorry. In fact, nothing will be back to normal by saying sorry. What you did, you did… that can’t be rectified…
For example, what you did now, by placing your hand on our way and wiping out our pheromone trails disturbed our path and created a lot of trouble for us. Now we may reconnect the route, or we may not. But the damage is big for us.
Maybe today we will have to stay hungry, unable to bring food, especially for the kids. A few may die, unable to find the path. In the end, it may become difficult for us to reach our destination.
So what makes you say sorry? No meaning, right?

I agreed…

He said, “Then do one thing… Bring the food for us… exactly what we need… in the right quantity… and then take us to our destination… without any harm or death to anyone.
Once you make sure everything is well with us, you can leave us. Is it possible?”
I just felt trapped and gulped…
Now my curiosity was over, and I had started sweating.
He then came to rescue me…
“Not possible, any of this, right?”
I interrupted…
“I may be able to arrange food by ordering on Swiggy or Zomato… The rest is not possible…”
I was acting like an innocent kid.
He replied…
“You forgot my conditions. Well… I said it should be exactly our quantity and what we really eat…”
“Anyway, don’t worry… I know all this is not possible for you to do.
And you guys think you are the masters of everyone and everything. But just think…
You can’t even reverse your actions, nor arrange simple food for a small ant.
You stop everyone’s food and path out of ego.
You even stop the elephant’s path the king of the forest and then think you are the king of everyone.
In fact, you are nothing on this planet.
Your ego will wash out your entire species.
Your development stops your food.
Your technology will put a full stop to your inheritors by stopping birth.
And finally, we will be here.
The ants…
Compared to our numbers, you are nothing.
If we decide to destroy, we can do it easily.
